The Inbox Simulation Microlearning Challenge Results are in!
May 27, 2022
In May, Capsim launched a global inbox simulation building competition. The Microlearning Challenge called on learning professionals worldwide to create an immersive microlearning inbox simulation that addresses an existing business need. Contest participants built 3-5 minute experiences for learners to apply a key concept in a bite-sized on-the-job experience.
Participants logged into the CapsimInbox Authoring Platform and built worlds that tackled challenges like gambling in the workplace, settling disputes with emotional intelligence, and supply chain disruptions.
A panel of judges rated each submission on the following criteria:
- Practicality & engagement
- Clarity
- Functionality
- Overall experience
Professors Hinrich Voss and Viviana Pilato from HEC Montréal took home the $500 grand prize with their winning submission–Expanding in Asia.
In this stand-out experience, participants take on the role of CEO of the regional headquarters of “H&V Ltd. Asia,” a wholly-owned subsidiary of a leading European fashion brand. In moments, you’re immersed and thrown into intriguing challenges and decisions, preparing for a forthcoming board meeting and regional internationalization plans. To be successful, you’ll have to crawl through key documents and brand resources to provide strategic recommendations in this international business thriller.

While only one team took home the grand prize, other valid entries received $25 prizes and unlimited usage of the created inbox simulation until September 1, 2022.
“I really enjoyed the experience and will continue to review so I can build out the initial inbox created in this Microlearning Challenge and expand in the near future,” runner-up Lynne Sprugel shared.
